Fines for defying closure orders

While businesses are eager to get back to work, and may even push the limits on the Stay Home, Stay Healthy order, there’s a new reason to reconsider that plan.

While L&I always addresses safety concerns, Covid brings more to worry about now.

On May 26, the Department of Labor and Industries announced that businesses could see hefty fines. Businesses that decide to open or operate in direct violation of Gov. Inslee’s Sty Home, Stay Healthy order may be cited and fined. Basically, fines could amount to almost $10,000 or more for unsafe workplace conditions under emergency rules. Details can be found on this L&I webpage.
