Welcome to Fife

Rainier from Levee Pond Park

Once a small farming town, Fife is now a thriving city of approximately 11,440 residents where people can live, work and play. With welcoming neighborhoods, a growing business community, parks and trails, and ample opportunities for development, Fife offers the best of small-city living with easy access to the region. Located between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and the Port of Tacoma, Fife is conveniently connected by I-5 to major employment and population centers.

A Wonderful Place to Work

Fife’s strategic location and business-friendly environment make it an attractive place to invest, grow and build a career. The city is home to a thriving warehouse, distribution and transportation industry, along with manufacturing, retail and hospitality businesses. No B&O tax, low tax rates, I-5 visibility, proximity to the Port of Tacoma, and responsive city government and Chamber of Commerce all contribute to a strong business climate. The planned SR-167 expansion, expected to be completed in 2030, will create additional opportunities for development and redevelopment.

A Great Place to Live and Play

Fife’s growth hasn’t changed its warm, small-city feel. Families benefit from the award-winning Fife School District, while the many public parks and trails offer opportunities to explore and enjoy the outdoors. The Fife History Museum and Dacca Barn celebrate the community’s story, and events such as the annual Fife Harvest Festival bring neighbors together and showcase Fife’s strong sense of connection and pride.

Rooted in History

Founded in 1957, Fife has a rich agricultural heritage shaped by Swiss, Scandinavian and Japanese settlers. Today, that history remains part of the community’s character. Fife is located on the traditional homelands of the Puyallup People, between the Puyallup River and Puget Sound and beneath the shadow of Mount Rainier. Its history, diversity and strong sense of community provide a welcoming foundation for Fife’s future.
